
Jennifer was always excited about becoming an all-purpose superstar. In her youth she enjoyed all kinds of musical genres, mainly Afro-Caribbean dances such as salsa, merengue and bachata. She also enjoyed mainstream music like pop hip-hop, and R&B. While she was a fan of films, music also intrigued her. Her most significant influence came from the Rita Moreno musical, West Side Story (1961). At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer as well as being an entertainer, as well as a Catholic schoolgirl, attended eight years of Holy Family Catholic Middle School in The Bronx. After completing an entire four-year period, she graduated from Preston High School, an all-girls preparatory school. Jennifer excelled in athletics at school and competed in tennis as well as track and field. She spent most of her living in a 2-story house located in the Castle Hill neighborhood. Jennifer was the first to leave her parents' home at the age of 18 to go out. Lopez worked as a lawyer during this period, while taking evening dance classes.
