In America, the early performance arts achievements of the young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the child prodigy category. But for a young Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family these qualities were naturally. Maureen was born in this cosy refuge on the 17th of August 1920. Her family was her parents and family members. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons an accomplished contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as a kid and was very proficient at it. This natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. In the end, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her home country. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she pursued her dreams of operatic as well as classical theatre and singing.
